How to recycle used lithium batteries?

2021-12-22 16:19:56

In today's society, when people use lithium-ion batteries in large quantities, they will inevitably produce a large number of waste batteries. In spent lithium-ion batteries, cobalt and lithium present on the positive electrode have a recycling value due to their high price and scarce resources. In addition, aluminum foil and copper foil, which are the current collectors for the positive and negative electrodes, are also valuable metals for recycling. The recycling of these batteries can not only reduce the environmental pollution of waste batteries, but also realize the full recovery and utilization of valuable components in waste lithium-ion batteries.

So how to recycle used lithium batteries?

1. Discharge: Set up discharge facilities in the workshop to release the electricity in the used lithium batteries, and spread the discharged batteries to dry naturally.

2. Dismantling, using a combination of manual and machine methods to disassemble the waste lithium battery, and separate the dismantled shell, aluminum foil, copper pole piece, etc. according to the material.

3. Crushing: The metal-containing battery materials that are disassembled and used for subsequent processing are crushed. The crushing facility is equipped with a dust collection device, which does not pollute the outside world.

4. Separation: Separate the crushed battery material pole pieces from the black powder, and separate the copper and aluminum foil metal from the black powder to achieve a purity of 99.8%.
