In the e-waste precious metal refining process, the mechanical equipment used plays a vital role. Some of the main machinery types and their functions are described in detail below:

Shredders: These powerful machines finely crush various types of e-waste into uniform particles for subsequent processing. Common crushers include hammer crushers and shear crushers.

Separation Equipment: Equipment like magnetic separators, eddy current separators, air classifiers, sieves, vibrating feeders, etc. are used to separate different metals like iron, aluminum, etc. from printed circuit boards and other components. These devices take advantage of the different properties of materials, such as magnetism and density differences, to perform effective separations.

Crusher/Grinder: Jaw crusher, roller crusher or ball mill are used to further grind the crushed e-waste into a very fine powder to maximize the release of precious metals within it.

Smelting furnace: Furnaces such as induction furnaces or rotary kilns are used in high-temperature pyrometallurgical processes to smelt treated powder or ash to extract precious metals such as gold and silver. These furnaces are able to separate metals at high temperatures so that they can be further processed and recycled.

Leach Tanks: These are devices, usually vessels equipped with agitators, used to process pulverized e-waste/ash using a chemical leaching solution to extract the dissolved metals. During the leaching process, the chemical solution reacts with the waste, causing the metal to interact with the solution, allowing metal separation and recovery.

Electrolytic deposition cells: These cells remove dissolved metals from the leach solution through a process of electrolysis and cathodic electrodeposition. They are commonly used in the recovery of metals such as copper and nickel, where dissolved metals are deposited on the cathode through current control, allowing for higher purity metal extraction.

Stills: Stills are used for final thermal recovery of precious metals such as gold from sludge/residue. At high temperatures, precious metals are distilled out through a process of evaporation and condensation, allowing them to be recovered.

Material handling equipment: Conveyors, centrifuges, thickeners, filters and other equipment are used to transport slurry/wastewater efficiently to ensure the smooth progress of the production process.

The use of these machinery and equipment can achieve high recovery rates of precious metals in electronic waste and dispose of them in an environmentally friendly manner. Through delicate processing and separation processes, they effectively extract precious metal materials from discarded electronic waste, making an important contribution to the recycling of resources. The use of these devices can reduce reliance on limited resources and reduce negative impacts on the environment. At the same time, continuous advancement of technological development and innovation will further improve the efficiency of e-waste precious metal refining. In the e-waste precious metal refining process, the mechanical equipment used plays a vital role.
