E-waste Machine for Gold Extraction

The e-waste gold extraction machine is a comprehensive recycling system that utilises dismantling, crushing, grinding, magnetic separation, gravity separation and precious-metal extraction equipment to separate gold-bearing materials from waste printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic components, whilst recovering copper and other valuable metals.

Gold in electronic waste does not typically exist as separate metal ingots, but is distributed across the surfaces of PCBs, CPUs, RAM, connectors and gold-plated electronic components. Consequently, the front-end dismantling process directly impacts the efficiency of subsequent recovery operations.

PCB dismantling machines utilise controlled heating and mechanical separation to detach components such as chips, capacitors and connectors from the PCB substrate, thereby reducing the workload associated with manual dismantling. For different grades of electronic waste, manual sorting may be carried out first before the material enters automated dismantling equipment. Research indicates that mechanical crushing of waste PCBs, following grading and pre-treatment, facilitates the subsequent separation of metals from resin and glass fibre.

Crushing and Sorting Machine for Gold-Bearing Materials

Once dismantling is complete, the PCBs enter a crushing, grinding and screening system. Typically, primary crushers, secondary crushers or hammer mills are used to progressively reduce the particle size of the material, ensuring that the copper foil, metal particles and resin substrate are thoroughly separated. In actual production, finer is not necessarily better; excessive crushing produces large amounts of fine powder, whilst increasing the difficulty of dust removal and sorting.

Screening equipment is responsible for controlling the flow of materials of different particle sizes, with oversized particles that do not meet specifications being returned to the crusher for reprocessing. A magnetic separator first removes ferromagnetic impurities, after which air separation, gravity separation, eddy current separation or electrostatic separation equipment may be configured to further separate copper, aluminium and metal concentrates. Research indicates that the mechanical crushing of waste PCBs, combined with differences in gravity, magnetism and electrical conductivity, is a common physical pre-sorting route; for fine-grained materials, electrostatic separation also has practical value.

Consequently, a complete e-waste recycling system is not a single ‘gold extraction machine’, but rather a continuous production line comprising multiple pieces of equipment. Some PCB production lines are designed with processing capacities of 300, 500 or even 1,000 kg/h; the specific configuration must be determined based on the type of PCB, metal content and target production capacity.

Gold Extraction and Refining Equipment

Following mechanical sorting, the gold-bearing material enters the precious metal extraction system. This stage typically involves equipment for leaching, solid–liquid separation, filtration, precipitation and refining; the specific process depends on the composition of the feedstock and the target metal. The purpose of mechanical sorting is to first reduce the proportion of impurities such as copper, iron, plastics and resins before processing the high-value metals, thereby reducing the load on subsequent refining stages. Existing research indicates that the prior removal of major base metals can significantly improve the metal enrichment level of the material in subsequent gold extraction.

For practical projects, determining whether a set of e-waste machinery for gold extraction is suitable should not be based solely on ‘gold recovery rate’; one must also consider the gold content of the feedstock, processing capacity, degree of metal liberation, copper recovery rate, energy consumption and environmental protection systems. A well-designed combination of equipment is often more important than simply improving the precision of a single process step.
