Copper and aluminum have significantly higher densities than plastics, so the equipment utilizes the weight and aerodynamic differences of the materials to separate the lighter plastic particles from the heavier metal particles into different outlets. Airflow size, vibration frequency, and material feed uniformity all affect the final sorting effect.

For projects with large processing volumes, the equipment typically employs a combination of shredder + crusher + air classifier + vibrating screen + dust removal system. If the raw material contains a large amount of fine copper wire, fine aluminum wire, or mixed particles that are difficult to completely separate using ordinary air classifiers, a high-voltage electrostatic separator can be added as a fine separation stage. Related industrial equipment often utilizes the difference in conductivity between metals and plastics to further purify the materials after air classifier separation.
